Cenk Baysan was born in Istanbul, in 1968. He
received his early education in Ankara. In his
youth he was drafted to play for the National Basketball
Team. After he graduated from high school, he went
to Boston to study at the Northeastern University
where he earned his Business Administration degree.
He then went on to study drama. In 2003, while
working in a five star hotel, overcome by a long
standing passion for making films, he gave up his
lucrative position as an executive, exchanged his
car for a camera and started making films. He was
first noticed by a children film he made about
the Dolmabahçe Palace; a film to attract the attention
of children from all over the world. He has made
various other films. But, the most significant
film he has made to date is called ‘The Sacred
Encounter’. Recently, the Turkish Ministry of Culture
has applied with this film to the UNESCO project
called ‘the Preservation of the Common Intangible
Heritage of Humanity ‘. The project was chosen
as the masterpiece of mankind.
